Music

This is the heart and soul of the event. Below we describe our approach to that music.   We've also separately provided some ideas for music themes and emphasis.... find out more

We play upbeat popular music

There are a huge range of music genres, and especially for dance music.  The music we play tends to be upbeat, popular and familiar, with some in interesting extras.  And certainly no gringe, grunge, or grime.

We only play music for you that we think is good enough in it's own right.  So you won't find us needing to do any "scratching" or adding lots of extreme effects for example.

We're also quite proud of our careful collection of some really great updated versions of original disco and dance classics, typically digitally remastered and sensitively remixed to make them even more enjoyable.  These are usually only available from the small number of suppliers of music recordings for DJs only.

We've put together some ideas about potential music themes that we know work well, to help you think about this as a starting point for our discussions...find out more...ideas.

We only use quality music recordings

There are various music formats - vinyl, cd and digital.  Each has it's own pros and cons.

Common digital music formats (such as some '.mp3' formats) can compress the audio signal.  This means that while the music files takes up less storage space, they can compromise on the quality of the sound, and especially when amplified.  We tend to use a mixture of CD and digital.  Where we do use digital formats, these are high quality versions (technically 320kbps).

Our music is all legitimately sourced

We use original music, legitimately and legally sourced and paid for. We also use music sets and tracks provided exclusively for professional DJs, providing the best versions of tracks and recorded to the highest quality.

We use radio edits

Some original songs can contain explicit lyrics.  We use "radio edits" versions where the these words are screened out.

We play the music on the fly, to best suit the moment.

While it can be tempting to create pre-arranged "sets" in advance and just let them play through, we believe that the real art and skill is in getting the music just right for the moment.

While we will be doing a lot of planning of the music once we have understood your needs, we are these sensitively choosing the right tracks on the fly to ensure we match the music to the moment, and create atmosphere, variety and interest.   This is based on our experience of what we know is likely to work well for your event, and what music works well together.
